Mr. President speech as university of medical sciences alumni association celebrates 1st year anniversary

The alumni association of university of medical sciences, Ondo city, Ondo is celebrating its first year anniversary. The president of UMSAA in  his speech thanked and gave world of encouragement. Here is the full speech.

Dear Fellow Unimed Alumni,

It has been a really tough year, probably the toughest anyone of us have seen since birth. However, today, with mouth full of thanks, we are celebrating the “birthday” of our association.

This day last year, the Unimed alumni association was inaugurated by the pioneer vice chancellor of the university, Professor Friday Okonofua, FAS, as part of the first convocation ceremony of the University. The first executives of the association, elected earlier for a term of four years, were charged to hold the graduates of the university together while occupying successful positions in the society, ensure continuity of the alumni, and assist the university in achieving her aims and objectives.

I am glad to inform you that a year after “birth”, the Unimed alumni association has left the crawling stage and is now trying to walk. We have been of great benefit to our members, solidified bonds with various stakeholders and the university community, just to mention a few. Majority of our proposed activities were delayed, no thanks to covid19.

Vote of thanks

Using this medium, I will like to thank the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Adesegun Fatusi, for his immense support towards making the alumni stand. He is always willing to listen to us. May he continue to be strong and healthy as he shoulders the responsibility of making our Alma mater world-class.

Also, my sincere gratitude goes to the pioneer and former Vice Chancellor, Professor Friday Okonofua, FAS. He managed the university so well and ensured uninterrupted academic activities. His legacies in the university, the alumni, and in me will continue to bring forth successes.

Special thanks go to Mr. Adedayo Adesida and his team, for the great effort they rendered chairing the first election of the association. Also, to Mr. Ifeoluwa Akinyemi and his team who reviewed our constitution, I am grateful.

To my mentors, Profesor Anthony Nwaopara and Mr. Seyi Ogunmodede, I am deeply grateful for all.

Lastly, to the executives and directors, I am indeed grateful; I look forward to more collaboration between us till and beyond the expiration of our term.

Moving forward

With great enthusiasm, I implore all members of the alumni to continue to do well in all their endeavors. We will always be there for ourselves.

I will like to challenge the societal stakeholders, various employers, businessmen, and all, to recruit/partner with graduates of the University of Medical Sciences Ondo. You will surely be amazed at how efficient, disciplined, accountable, loyal, skillful, hardworking, and intelligent we are.

To the current students of the University, see this training period as a great opportunity to better your lives. I look forward to the days we shake hands as colleagues in the Alumni.   I wish you all the best of luck in your exams.

To parents, Unimed is the right place for your children. Only one institution is best before Unimed, Unimed.

We will continue to perform wonders till the end of our tenure.

Thank you all.

Mr Richard Olumide Daodu

President
